I've always liked flat drawings. The ones with no shadows, volumes, perspective - just line and color. There was something truly attractive about them: as if reality suddenly retreated, giving way to style, mood, idea.
I especially loved the girls in these drawings. They were refined, light, almost weightless, sometimes bold with a slightly tilted neck and a slight mystery in their eyes. Always in fashionable, beautiful outfits - not just clothes, but a statement, a gesture, a mood and calm confidence.
They had a sense of style, inspiration and some kind of inner freedom. Maybe because they weren’t trying to be like life – they were just themselves. And maybe in those lines and colors I felt a reflection of my own desires – to be myself, to be beautiful in my own way, to be part of this exquisite world, drawn with love.
